A developer’s proposal to rezone the former Rheingold brewery industry area in Bushwick received approval from the local community board and the City Planning Commission. To fight to block the proposal or to revise it, local residents including local artist built up a community group called Northwest Bushwick Community group. Some artists called for residents to voice their concerns and opinions, trying to prevent Bushwick from being gentrified.
