In celebration of Harlem Week, the annual festival showcasing the community’s rich economic, political, cultural and artistic history, NYC life (channel 25) will air a series of documentaries devoted to Harlem, its citizens and racial identity on Monday, July 19.
Starting off the night at 9pm is Special Dreams, a documentary narrating the recent events surrounding the Harlem School of the Arts. Created by Yuanchen Liu, a graduate student in the News & Documentary Program at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, the film follows two students studying piano at the school and the efforts of local parents to save the school after it was forced to temporarily shut down earlier this year.
